IPAM User Roles
To be able to view the IPAM App you will have to have a role assigned to your IRIS profile that allows you to view the app. You will either be assigned the IPAM-ADMIN role or the IPAM-USER role.
To launch IPAM, click the Hamburger button on the top left of your screen and select the IPAM app.
NOTE: If you cannot see the app, either the app is not installed, or your profile does not contain the correct user roles to view IPAM.
After launching IRIS IPAM, your landing page will be the Networks page. If you have already added some networks, they will be listed here. If not, your first task is to add a network.
Adding a network
When adding a network you will need a relevant name, an organisation and a network type. The ability to create subnets is part of the next stage and is described below.
When adding the network:
Use a name and description that will describe the correct context and be meaningful.
Select the correct Network Type for the entity and assign to an organisation from the drop-down list, or create one in the modal.
Assign to a VRF, if applicable, or leave as None to assign globally.
Assign an AS number for informational purposes.
Assign an IRIS poller to act as a DHCP server from the drop-down list if required.
Adding a Netblock
To add a netblock, click the Add Netblock button.
The Create a new Netblock pop-up will be displayed.
On the resulting input modal:
Add your range in the format x.x.x.x/y.
Name your netblock with a meaningful name and complete the Description field, if required.
Indicate the Address Type (IPV4 or IPV6).
Complete the rest of the informational fields as best describes your netblock, if required.
We recommend adding your Superblocks at first and then splitting them into subnets.
Splitting a Superblock
Select the Network in the left-hand tree structure, and then select the Subnet button on the right and choose the number of subnets to create.
Add names for the new subnets and change the status of the range or netblock type.
You can split individual subnets again, until you get to the correct subnet size.
The Registrar requires an Organisation Name to which it allocates IP ranges.
Adding an Organisation
Click on Organisation on the IPAM menu bar, and then click on Add Organisation.
Fill in the fields using the information as per the registrar.
The only required field is the Name. If you type in the ARIN Handle field, the rest of the fields are populated from the ARIN database.
Editing an Organisation
To edit an organisation, click EDIT in the actions column on the organisation landing page.
Deleting an Organisation
To delete an organisation, click on the DELETE button in the actions column. You would need to confirm the action for it be successful.
Click on Domains in the IPAM menu bar.
Adding a domain
To add a domain, click on Add Domain Name in the top right hand corner of the Domain landing page.
The Create a New Domain Name pop-up will be displayed.
Add a name and description if required, and select the name server and organisation from the dropdown list.
In IPAM, you can view the zonefile information if you have associated a host to the domain name you are viewing.
Clicking on the ZONEFILE button will launch the below view.
A list of all hosts and IPs associated with the domain are displayed.
The host and IP can be changed in this section.
In future versions of IPAM the ability to create the zonefile and update information on the DNS server will be available.
AS numbers can be added for informational purposes, and are used for the RD when adding a VRF.
Adding Autonomous Systems
You can add your AS Number information and add a description.
Virtual Routing Tables (VRF)
Add VRF information:
- Add the name
- Add the description
- Choose the AS from the drop-down list and add the RD
